How to make fall desserts healthier?
Here are a few good rules to help you experiment with your own healthy fall dessert ideas:
- Use high-quality sweeteners like coconut sugar, maple syrup or even stevia for a lower glycemic load
- Make your fall desserts flourless by using ground oats and nuts like almond flour. This leads to a higher fiber content of your fall recipe and in the case of almond flour – lower glycemic index.
- Avoid adding sugar, especially if it doesn’t need to be added. Fall foods like pumpkins, apples and pears are all pretty sweet and a little bit of maple syrup can go a long way. So don’t overdo it!
- Use high-quality fats like coconut oil or grass-fed butter in moderation, again, a little bit goes a long way.
